Oct 27th - Jamie Talbert and the Band of Demons

Texas Country

Jamie Talbert

Jamie Talbert & The Band of Demons are known for a raising a few eyebrows — not only with their name, but with their music. As edgy and innovative as their namesake song (Charlie Daniels’ “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”), this Jam Band influenced group feels the lyric, “and a band of demons joined in, and it sounded something like this,” sums up their style perfectly. These boys like to have FUN, and it SHOWS! As all of this is packed into devilish antics that are infectious, it becomes something everyone wants to be a part of.

Oct 28th - Calamity Janes - 10yr Anniversary!

Texas Country

Calamity Janes

This trio of sisters is exactly what comes to mind when you think sassy Texas singer/songwriters- sassy and bold, gritty and clever. With signature three part blood harmonies rooted in church music from their childhood influenced by bluegrass, soul, classic rock and old school country with a big dose of their own ideas about Red Dirt/Texas music and solid song writing, The Calamity Janes have established a style that is truly all their own. After receiving top notch reviews of their debut EP "Roots and Wings" from the Dallas Observer, OneStopCountry out of Nashville and several other notable sources, the Janes burned up the Texas Regional Radio Charts with their first single "One of Those Nights" peaking at #35. Now on their forth radio single, a true life divorce story inspired by the real life "Middle Sister"- a true honky-tonk tune- The Janes are taking the country by storm, blazing a trail all their own and not looking back.

Nov 3rd - Holly Tucker

Holly Tucker

In a music genre where a great story is key and a sense of genuineness is as important as an artist’s vocal prowess, 23-year-old Holly Tucker is emerging on the Texas Country Music scene as one to watch.  Her voice has been described by Blake Shelton as “the most effortless, accurate, and powerful voice” the top-charting country music star has ever heard.  That, coupled with Holly’s down-to-earth personality evident in both her lyrics and performances is fast moving Holly’s music onto charts and into hearts in Texas and beyond.

“I may be young but I know who I am and what I stand for, especially when it comes to creating country music,” the Waco native says.  “I’m real and it’s important that my music is too.”  Perhaps nowhere is that more evident than on Holly’s first full-length album entitled “Steel”, released in early 2016.  Songs such as “Knock-off”, “Dallas On Your Boots”, and “Steel”, for which the album is named, unequivocally embody this idea that a young woman today can be both tough and vulnerable.

“Texas Country Music is a beautiful path,” the Waco, Texas native says.  “I happily and proudly invite my family, friends, and fans to join me on this musical journey that I feel so fortunate to be on.” Opening for BRI BAGWELL!

Bri Bagwell

Bri Bagwell is real country music, and what country music should strive to be. She is an independent artist without a record deal, and without management. Her popularity is derived 100% by word of mouth and her raw talent. This grass roots effort is rare these days; it speaks to her infectious music and appeal.

She fell in love with music at an early age, and started playing in a band with her older brothers while just a teenager growing up in New Mexico. A couple of weeks after turning 18, she moved to Austin, TX to study at UT and begin her music career in the live music capital of the world. Late nights, rowdy Texas crowds, and being alone on stage with just a guitar shaped her onstage charismatic charm. She learned to gain a crowd’s attention with her beautiful voice, singing songs she wrote herself.

Her first CD, “Banned from Santa Fe”, released June 2011, sold through several printings, and gained traction very quickly among music fans. Bri Bagwell was the only female artist on the Texas Music Chart for a few weeks with her single, also titled “Banned from Santa Fe" and her song "Whiskey" became her 1st top 15 hit and has passed 70,000 YouTube views on the single's video.

In 2013, Bri released her self-titled EP, which featured two brand new radio singles, “Hound Dog” and “Crazy”. Her latest radio release, “Crazy,” has been praised for its witty and relatable lyrics, and it continues to climb the Texas charts. When she’s not on tour, you can find Bri in Nashville, Tennessee, writing songs for Sony/ATV Publishing on Music Row.

In the internet age with music coming at you from every type of media, it is harder and harder for artists to get attention. Bri Bagwell is not only gaining attention, but she is also drumming up excitement; and, she does it all without a million-dollar budget.

Country / Honky Tonk

Mike and the MoonpiesFor the past several years, Mike and the Moonpies have been making a name for themselves as Austin Texas' premier honky tonk band. With the growing regional popularity of their 2012 release "The Hard Way," radio single of the same name, and a non-stop regional touring schedule, they have recently taken the entire Texas music scene by storm. The Moonpies have delivered some of the most memorable performances in recent years in venues like Gruene Hall and Luckenbach TX, and have gained a cult like following in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee and throughout the midwest.

Mike and the Moonpies maintained a rotating cast of musicians, and a Monday night residency at the Hole in the Wall in Austin, from '08-'10 before solidifying the current lineup of Kyle Ponder, Preston Rhone, Zach Moulton, and Catlin Rutherford. In 2011, with the addition of John Carbone on piano, the Moonpies moved from Hole In The Wall to a new honky tonk in east Austin, The White Horse. Here, they would carve out their niche. While playing a blend of original material from their debut album 'The Real Country,' and covering songs by their Austin predecessors like Doug Sahm and Jerry Jeff Walker, the White Horse and the Moonpies built what would become one of the most notorious residencies in recent Austin music history. That same year, the band was also approached by Daytrotter.com with an offer to be a part of their annual touring concert event Barnstormer IV. This was the introduction of the Moonpies to the midwest and a national audience.

In 2012, the band self released 'The Hard Way.' A 10 song original album that showcased the tightness and maturity the band had developed over the past year of playing 4-5 nights a week. The following year would prove to be an eventful one for Mike and the band. In February of 2013, Mike Harmeier and his new fiance would find themselves stranded on the Carnival Triumph cruise ship stuck in the gulf of Mexico. This brought on some local news and radio attention and sparked new interest in the band. At the same time, the Moonpies started to open for larger acts in the Texas music scene and were gaining praise from bands like Eleven Hundred Springs, and Hayes Carll.

While on a run with Austin icon Ramsay Midwood through Tennessee, the Moonpies reached out to Nashville/Austin based booking agency Red 11 Music. After seeing the band live, Red 11 decided to help the Moonpies spread their music to a wider audience. Since then, Mike and the Moonpies have maintained a rigorous touring schedule supporting acts like Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Turnpike Troubadours, and the legendary Johnny Lee, as well as headlining iconic venues like Luckenbach TX, The Broken Spoke, John T. Floore Country Store, and Oklahoma City's famous Wormy Dog Saloon. For the past year, they have been making a film documenting their lifestyle as a regional touring band, and writing and recording a full length album both to be released in 2014. With tales of their on stage antics, genuine songwriting, and dedication to playing real country music spreading like wildfire, The Moonpies are on the path to becoming a household name in Texas music.

Nov 17th - The Warhorses

Texas Country / Americana / Roots Rock

The Warhorses

The WarhorsesIt took six years and 30,000 miles for The Warhorses to officially form. Their patience and persistence finally paid off when they came together in Austin, TX through a series of fortunate circumstances. The band independently released their debut EP "Regardless," on March 1, 2014. "Leave Me Alone" the bands first single from that EP, was a TOP 50 single on both the Texas Music Chart and Texas Regional Radio Report.

Following the success of their first single, The Warhorses teamed up with producer Ken Tondre to record a new EP for 2015. They hope to build on that momentum with the release of their current single "Heart Like Mine". The Warhorses blend their Country, Rock, and Blues influences to produce an authentic sound that is a true reflection of their musical upbringings. In addition to writing and recording new music, The Warhorses have been taking their music to new markets, as well as sharing the stage with the heavy hitters of the Texas Music Scene including Casey Donahew Band, Stoney LaRue, The Randy Rogers Band,  Kyle Park, Jon Wolfe, among others.

The Warhorses continue to hone their craft while working hard to expand the reach of their music. Fans can look for the band's new EP in the in 2016. Opening for MICKY AND THE MOTORCARS.

Micky and the MotorcarsBiography:
Thirteen years can put a hell of a lot of wear and tear on even the hardiest of rock ’n’ roll bands. But don’t be fooled by all those hundreds of thousands of miles on Micky & the Motorcars’ odometer: pop the hood of Hearts From Above, the long-running Austin band’s seventh album, and you’ll find a brand-new engine, fine-tuned and good to run for at least as many more miles still ahead. And behind the wheel? Two brothers and founding members Micky Braun (lead vocals and guitar) and Gary Braun (guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and vocals) invigorated and supercharged by a transfusion of new blood from fresh recruits Dustin Schaefer (lead guitar), Joe Fladger (bass), and Bobby Paugh (drums). Micky and Gary, who by their own admission, haven’t been this fired up about playing together since they first rode south from the Whitecloud Mountains of Idaho to stake their claim to the Texas and wider Americana music scenes.

Uncle Lucius South Austin, TX’s Uncle Lucius is a dream, conjured in the minds of 5 sonic mercenaries, a clarion call to arms for true believers. It is the voice that shakes you from complacency, grabs you with both hands and implores: Get in the van!!!

Like the city that brought them together, UL is a gumbo, with hints of Americana and folk juxtaposed with a slow-cooked roux that is steeped in classic rock n roll and the blues. The resulting flavor is familiar and unique, roots at its most refined, albeit with a gutbucket foundation.

A certain spirit inhabits the tunes and tunesmiths alike, a seeking and a questioning that leads one far from the prescribed path. It was that spirit that brought Kevin Galloway, then a banker and music minister, from his east Texas upbringing to the streets of south Austin, in search of a life more imbued with meaning than financial well-being. Around his voice and songwriting the other pieces fell into place. Mike Carpenter left his job on a Houston assembly line to vie for greatness in one of America’s foremost guitar scenes. San Antonio’s Josh Greco fortified the emerging group w/ his considerable classical and jazz training. The road brought them to Lexington, KY, where restless Jonny “Keys” Grossman was ready to eschew his comfortable life for a van’s eye view of the country. Last to join was Nigel Frye, the pride of Tulsa, Oklahoma’s outcast jazz scene, and low-end accomplice for some of Austin’s finest musicians.

The creature is a five headed beast, each member’s diverse taste finding a place. Deeply indebted to the country/jazz/rock fusion native to Austin, as well as the ever-evolving gumbo that is New Orleans music, the band serves as a vehicle for its lyrical vision, one that imagines a life where profits and losses no longer rule man’s motives. Though its focus falls on the darker edges at times, at heart the band’s vision is a hopeful one. What could we possibly lose, after all, when “right now is all we’ve ever had”?

After 8 years of touring across Texas and to both coasts and back, UL was named 2014’s Best New Band by the Texas Regional Radio Report. Their most recent release, Live @ Grady’s 66 Pub, is available for free download here. They are currently in preproduction for their next studio recording with George Reiff (Ray Wylie Hubbard, Shinyribs, Band of Heathens), with the album to be released in early 2015.

Cody Canada & The DepartedThe Departed are returning to O'Briens Indoor Stage for a show that will Rock your Socks off!!

“The two things that drive me are love and hate.”
– Cody Canada, March 2014.

The latest, tight incarnation of the Cody Canada-led group The Departed isn’t a reinvention of the group’s sound, or a reimagining of Canada’s musical perspective – it’s a reunion. As with any reunion, the passing years have provided the involved parties with new and unique perspectives, breathing vibrant excitement into their streamlined new environment.
Canada, Jeremy Plato, Chris Doege and Steve Littleton are reopening the doors to a sonic garage where sounds and stories some thought were gone for good are now being unleashed onto an eager public after a few years of fruitful – even risky -- artistic diversion. Being guided by raw emotion and nerves that are often unguarded, Canada hasn’t begun to pluck the opening notes to an increasing number of Cross Canadian Ragweed favorites without some reluctance or painful reminiscence, mind you. But the powerful nature of such visceral connections is what makes his stories stunning while rightfully placing him in a prominent class of modern songwriters occupied by the influential likes of Robert Earl Keen, Bruce and Charlie Robison, Todd Snider, Mike McClure and the men of Reckless Kelly, among only a strict few others.

To be clear, the men of the Departed are not the frat-house faves many of the latest generation of river-tubing popsters are. Ideals and experiences of a person enduring the sometimes harsh realities of the real world demand space in a Departed concert.
In the wake of Ragweed’s 2010 dissolution, most fans likely expected – and few would’ve blamed – Canada for adhering to the heart-sleeved, Okie-rocker recipe that propelled Canada into a true Rock Star realm. Bolstering his bad-ass bona-fides even more, however, was his decision to choose the dirt road less traveled. By finally partnering up with Seth James, a long-time friend universally admired for his soulful skills, Canada’s words had a different backdrop that certainly represented commercial risk, but offered an unusually fresh outlet where the iconic songs of his past, for a while, stayed in the past. For three years, Canada became a side-man for sections of each concert as the Departed quickly built a reputation as a crack band focused on packing as much expertly-curated song-craft into each show as possible, eschewing the demands for “more Ragweed!”
With the chill of 2014’s winter thawing into the haziness of the spring and the Departed now having played as a powerful four-piece for several months following James’ amicable exit, Canada’s appreciation for the truly remarkable, intensely personal body of work he created as he fronted Ragweed is intact, and indeed, fresh with the passing of time and the healing of emotional wounds. Unsurprisingly, fans are exuberantly responding to the inclusion of classics such as “Alabama,” “Dimebag,” and “17” into set-lists for Departed shows. The refitted outfit is channeling the power chords and raw-bone ballads which vaulted Canada into the status as Red Dirt’s biggest name for so long.

This is not a comeback. This isn’t a rebirth.

This is a rock and roll renewal only an artist with Canada’s strength of will and determined vision is capable of. He’s making great use of a rare chance few artists ever receive. He now knows what he only started to understand many years ago, and his words are all the more impactful as a result.

Aaron Einhouse

When Aaron Einhouse makes music, he creates with a deep reverence for the world’s greatest storytellers and admiration for the great men who came before him. Einhouse explores life, love and heartache with his fourth studio album It Ain’t Pretty, which is his most imaginative and literary music to date.

But Einhouse comes by his creative process honestly. The family man and father of two is always studying. When he is not with family, onstage or in the studio, he can be found touring the country in a passenger van (named Vaän), listening to audio books and writing songs. The long hours on overnight road trips to the next town on tour serve as Einhouse’s office time. He is also an avid reader who packs Charles Bukowski on hunting trips.

“I like using foreshadowing and twists,” Einhouse says. “When you’re singing a song, you can make people feel things through music that you can’t do when you’re just telling the story.”

Tracked at The Panhandle House in Denton, Texas with Erik Herbst, the 10-song collection opens with the roadhouse scorcher “Dancin’” about balancing family life with a life on the edge. Einhouse co-wrote the country rocker “That’s What You Get” with Johnny Chops Richardson (Randy Rogers Band) about living with bad decisions. “If we all just did what our mama said and learn from our mistakes,” Einhouse says, “we’d all have better lives. But maybe they wouldn’t be quite as interesting. People never learn.”

Einhouse sings about embracing life’s harsher truths in the slide guitar-led title track, which he co-wrote with Hal Ketchum. Einhouse sings, “I’m here to tell you it’s all wrong / I’ve been lied to by fairy tales and songs.” “A huge recurring theme in the record is the duality of life,” Einhouse says. “Love can be wonderful and terrible at the same time. But you’ve got to go through hard times to appreciate the good times. On my previous albums, I don’t think I necessarily really embraced that side of writing. I am at that stage where I want to write whatever feels real.”

The slow-rolling “Like Rock ‘n’ Roll” offers a sexy look at what it feels like to fall in love under the influence of a rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, while Einhouse gets honest about what it’s like to be married to music in “On and On.”

Einhouse captures heartache and moving on with the honky tonk cheating song “My Susannah,” the unrequited love ballad “Thinking of You” and the closing breakup anthem “I’m Done.” “The Fall of Eli Wilde” is a fictitious mountain man epic that is loosely inspired by a Sam Houston speech and the 1972 western Jeremiah Johnson starring Robert Redford.

The Americana parable “The Richest Man” honors the wisdom Einhouse’s late grandfather shared over lunch at his favorite burger joint Captain Billy Whizbang’s. “We’d walk in there,” he says, “and they all knew him because he ate there every other day. He was always messing around with them. So when he came in smiling, they’d say, ‘Oh, here he is.’ He was a jovial guy and liked to kid around. Those are some of my most vivid memories - sitting there eating with him and talking.”

Einhouse has built a loyal following with his previous releases -- Blue Collar Troubadour, Hello Road and Off the Edge and by touring tirelessly across the country.  His new album It Ain’t Pretty is already critically acclaimed in No Depression, Elmore Magazine, AOL, Whiskey Riff, Roughstock and NYC’s Park Bench who claim “It Aint Pretty is a celebration of the gritty reality that makes a musical poet write such songs in the first place. It is a collection of songs that would survive even the driest desert, and might even inspire new life to grow there.”

Dec 23rd - Denny Herrin Band

Red Dirt / Texas country

Denny Herrin Band

Born in Austin, Texas and raised in the Central Texas Hill Country, Denny Herrin can't help but express his small town roots through his music.  Denny’s earliest introduction to music and country western dancehalls is credited to his parent’s love of the genre and honky-tonk atmosphere.  In fact, his parents met in a dance hall and have passed down their passion for music to Denny.  At a young age, Denny was exposed to an array of musical talent and genres ranging from pop, country, blues, rock, celtic and bluegrass.

His admiration and appreciation for fellow artists and musicians, past and present, is what drives Denny to expand on his talent. He aspires to be an influential member of the music community just as those who have inspired him. Motivated by the desire to connect with fans on every level Denny is in constant motion!

Taking life experiences and meshing them with his country upbringing, Denny writes songs that can be felt deep in the heart and soul. He has a powerful commanding voice and is inspired by a mix of artists like Elvis Presley, Steve Earle, Joe Cocker and the Band. You can catch Denny in an acoustic setting with just his guitar or catch his full band at your favorite honky-tonk, dancehall, rodeo or festival.

Denny’s sound is well defined. He creates a natural, yet powerful blend by combining his Rock and Roll / Americana roots with his deep ties to Texas and classic country. He is not afraid to challenge his abilities by learning new material and sharpening his song writing skills. Denny's unmistakable voice and jovial personality really connects with the crowd. He has the ability to create an intimate, acoustic atmosphere that reaches listeners on a personal level and can rev up a crowd with the full band. You may even catch him on the dance floor between sets, two stepping, waltzing or line dancing with fans!
